me hate comfort zone!
there is guy here in my workplace who is once so indispensable. wanna know why? because he is the only guy who could actually fix if one of the backbone machines here was broken broken. why? because he used to keep all the manual in his own drawer, he kept the password and the things related to that backbone machine. hiyyyah. once a gadget in my office went broken, meaning that someone got to fix it from that very backbone machine of his. i got to wait for days until it was finally fixed as he was on leave at that time. it annoyed me big time
they said the problem was indeed an ongoing saga. fortunately, we then decided to change that backbone machine with a new generation one, this time all staff in his section participated in the training so similar problem will never occur again in the future.
indispensable. what is it? essential. not subject to being set aside or neglected. absolutely necessary. in working place, yep i know being indispensable is quite important with the fact that there are so many job seekers and few job opportunities, when companies can actually get the best human resources available while offering minimum renumeration *sigh* but how can we be indispensable? by keeping all the secrets from working colleagues? by being the know all individual in the office? by being so solitaire and opposing the team work idea? by refusing to share expertise and knowledge?
know all and don’t share approach indeed make us somehow indispensable. we will be paged when needed, even when we are million miles away from the office. but hey, don’t you wanna have a quiet personal life away from office tasks once in a while? we are indeed very much needed, but don’t you wanna your colleague to excel as you did so that they can do the things you usually do while you embrace further challenges? what do you think?
inspired by the movie flight of the phoenix, we watched last thursday, this time without him trying funny drink
, that geek who designed the phoenix, indispensable he is or so he thought he is. btw, there were only 21 moviegoers in the theatre then, so the next day it was changed to another movie…. whoaaa such a good movie! thanks goodness someone thought it was friday while actually it was still thursday
, otherwise we would stick to the previous arrangement and went watching the movie on the real friday and ended up watching ungu violet

Don’t be irreplaceable, if you can’t be replaced, you can’t be promoted.
But if you do that guy “yeah, im the only who can do that” does, you need a lot of Force to perform some jedi mind tricks to your boss only to get your salary raised.

btw, irreplaceable is not fun at all, maybe for a while coz we can be the most important thing in the world. but what then? we can’t move on coz we have to stick in that place forever…imagine that.. forever…yaks….
