After spending the night on August in my sister’s house, on August 27 afternoon I left Slipi for Sheraton Bandara, where I would spend a night for me to get closer to the airport. Got to catch a morning flight to Singapore on 28.
August 28. Waking up at 4 am hehehehe too excited that I cannot sleep. At 5, took a nice shower..and quickly changed to my uniform … hehehe jeans and t-shirt! At 5.30 left the room to the reception to settle the bill and oapla, off I went to the airport. Waiting for quite sometimes for the other delegates and finally we departed for Singapore at 8.30. Had a nice breakfast inside the aircraft.
As planned we arrived in Changi Airport Singapore at 11.05. we then proceeded to the point where the liaison Officer of the ASA Congress would pick us up. We met Jasmine and Samantha who were very helpful with our luggage and stuff. When finally the Thailand delegates arrived (they shared the couch with us) we left for the hotel. It took around 20 minutes from the airport to our hotel..whoaaaa a very tall hotel.
Yes, it took sometimes for us to check in as many delegates arrived at the same time, but finally we were escorted to our room and our luggage safely sent to each respective room. I got a room in the 9th floor with gorgeous view to the river and all those beautiful skyscrapers! I was 100% sure that our room (I shared the room with a delegate from Surabaya) is one category higher than the other delegates’ rooms hehehehe….lucky us!
I would stay in this hotel until September 2 morning to attend the Asia Pacific Congress for Secretaries and Admin Professionals. The first program was held in the hotel ballroom for the welcoming dinner ‘A night of glitters’ whoaaa all those beautiful delegates in their respective country national costumes and I? You bet…in black slacks and simple blouse! You knew me, I would have been arriving in jeans and t-shirt if I was allowed to!
The night went well, lasted till 10 PM when finally all delegates left the ballroom. A good nice rest, that was what we needed the most! Any plan for shopping has to be postponed for a while! Night, night dear readers!
August 29. Waking up at 5 o’clock..whoaaaaaa the scenery for the room in the dawn is stunning! Quickly grabbed my digicam and switched it into night mode…so beautiful and gorgeous! After taking some pictures, I took a shower and changed into our purple uniform .. Not a word! I warn you..not a word! I despise the purple uniform too! All delegates then had breakfast in the third floor of this hotel. Not really exciting breakfast, no nasi! Hahahahahahaha! After breakfast, we then started the seminar, divided into several sessions that lasted till 5PM. During lunch break, we had our rehearsal for the performance on Wednesday, we will do folk dance. In the evening, all delegates went to Night Safari. What a remarkable experience! Watching various nocturnal animals in their own habitat, while we were riding open bus! We could watch so many animals without anything separating us from the animals. Yaikz! In open bus! Yaikz! Too bad, I was not successful with the camera, even after I switched it into night mode, the pictures are all blurred!
August 30. Another day full of seminar sessions. Great ones. But I could not wait for our trip tomorrow to Sentosa Island.
August 31. A big day today! We would have our excursion to Sentosa Island. So after a half day seminar, at 2 we departed for Sentosa Island in 4 buses. First, we would be on our city tour. Our bus driver and guide took us to see Little India, Esplanade, The Padang, Government Offices area and others. Yay, we got our great guide from our last excursion to night safari, Wilson, who called us his children! Okay papa! He is so attentive and fun. After the city tour, we went to the Keppel Bay area to take the cable car to cross to Sentosa Island. Once we were in Sentosa Island, we were give free times to visit some of the attractions (too bad it had to be in our own expense heheheheh) I decided to see the underwater world. Got to see lots of fish and sea creatures. Got the chance to see their staff feeding the fish as well. Nice!
As promised all of us gathered at 5 in front of the entrance gate so that we could go as a group on a ride in the monorail sky train. After the ride, we went to the Merlion. Whoaaaaa so big, too bad no memory left in my digicam memory stick huehuehuehueeuehue…
So many people were in queue to go to the top of the Merlion. You bet, the scenery from the top of the Merlion is superb! After that, all of us had family style dinner in one Chinse Restaurant in Sentosa Island. Yummy! After dinner we went to the musical fountain. It’s gorgeous. They certainly know what they do. Laser, water and fire, caught your attention!!!!
September 1. Woke up at 5 AM. Got up at 6AM. The view from my bed is stunning. Whoaaa… I think I can lay there for hours daydreaming! But had to quickly take a bath. So just like other days, breakfast and then seminar sessions. Luckily today is the closing day of the congress so we only had summary presentation and some awards presentation in the morning lasted till 11AM. Right after the ceremony finished, I went to Keppel Bay Tower close to the harbour. The taxi trip cost us 6 dollar, whoaaa everything is expensive here! After Keppel Bay, next destination is Takashimaya. We have to rehearse at 3.30PM so plenty of time to do window shopping. Another taxi ride, 6 Sin dollar gone! Damn! Window shopping in takashimaya…whoaaaa like you wanna buy every single piece there! At 2.30 made a quick exit to get a taxi in front of Lucky Plaza. More dollars spent! Good thing, my roommate paid hehehehe…she is 18 years older than me, so I am like her daughter! After some rehearsals, we all are getting ready for the gala dinner, all Indonesian delegates will wear traditional costumes. Waks….
September 2. Waking up at 7, my roommate would check out soon. So I changed into more decent clothes and accompanied her to the lobby. After she left the hotel, I went back to the room and wrote little bit, managed to buzz my friend thru yahoo messenger..hehehehe! so nice talking to people back home… At 9 after quick bath, I went down to have breakfast. I have promised my friends that I would go with them to Orchard Road after breakfast. So yap, after breakfast, we took a taxi to Orchard Road, our destination was Lucky Plaza, perfume hunting!
At 11 we went back to the hotel as we had to move to other hotel. I then checked out and moved to Grand Central Hotel in Orchard Road. The room is quite okay. It just took us 30 minutes before we were back to stroll along Orchard Road. Lotsa sales! Wish I had more money hehehehe….We completely forgot about lunch, but we finally decided to take a rest, feet hurt! 4 hours of walking along orchard. We treated ourselves in Starbucks down the road close to Marriott and Tang. Ice blended tea raspberry for me. Yum. My roommate and I chatted there for an hour before we once again on our feet strolling and window shopping. At 7 PM we finally had our lunch in Mos Burger, the burger is so great, different to those of MacDonalds, u sud try em! After the belated lunch we did some more window shopping and went back to the hotel at 11. a half day of walking, we needed rest really!
September 3. Waking up at 7 in the morning not feeling very well, sneezing and coughing. Really not the right time to be sick! Feeling somehow lonely and mellow! Man! I miss everybody! But no time to be mellow, lotsa things to do as I will fly to Bangkok tomorrow morning. So I quickly took a bath and changed into jeans and t-shirt and left for Sheraton Towers Singapore. Looking at the map, it would not be very hard to find. Yes, indeed it is easy to locate but whoaaaaa..so far from the hotel I am currently staying at. But nevertheless I enjoyed the walk tremendously. The weather was nice. After meeting my counterpart in Sheraton Towers I quickly went back to the hotel to extend my stay and grabbed my mobile phone. The way back took me 30 minutes. No more than 10 minutes after I arrived in the hotel, I went out again to do some window shopping with a friend of mine. We went to Plaza Singapore, about 10 minutes walking from our hotel. It was almost 11 in the morning, so we decided to have breakfast, fried noodles, some fried tofu and Maui blend juice, which tasted superb! After quick breakfast, we went around the mall looking at stuff but bought nothing. Then we decided to treat ourselves with some relaxing time in Starbucks. As usual I had ice blended tea raspberry. I like it very much with cream on top! Around 1 we went back to the hotel as my friend had to leave to catch her 4 o’clock flight to Jakarta. After my friend left, I went once again to do some more shopping for my niece, sister and friends. I got a bad headache but the walk made my headache gone..hehehehehe! At 6 I went back to the hotel and decided to rest so that my fever did not become worse! Tomorrow morning at 9 I have to leave for the airport, Bangkok, here I come ………
