masih inget jelas gimana kita bisa kenalan. waktu itu ada acara kampus kan? fakultas kita ngadain kemah buat para mahasiswa baru. kita belum saling kenal waktu itu, beda jurusan, meski sebenernya kalo kuliah kita berada di bawah atap yang sama. di gedung E kampus kita. aku kenal lebih dulu sama beberapa temenmu. nah pas malem itu, tiba-tiba ujan deras (kebayang kan kemah kok september!) jadi kita semua ngga tidur di kemah masing-masing tapi di gedung pertemuan bumi perkemahan itu. hehehe sempit banget jadinya abis satu angkatan fakultas kita tumplek blek disitu. kita kenalan disitu kan (meski udah sering ketemu kalo pas lewat tenda-tenda, iya nggak?) ngga secara langsung sih. pas lagi bercanda-canda gitu deh ama temen-temenmu. terus aku musti ngambil sesuatu dari tendaku dan kamu nemenin aku (eh gimana ceritanya ya dulu?) heheheheh seponco berdua! hehehehe..terus gimana ceritanya sisi hatiku jadi hangat, ingat ngga waktu itu kita suka ama lagu Tak Bisa Pindah Ke Lain Hatinya - Katon? berasa kayak abege, eh emang abege ya, kita kan baru aja lulus sma? hihihihi..
pertemanan kita masih lanjut pas kita dah mulai kuliah, lengkap ama temen2mu dan temenku…tapi ngga tau gimana ceritanya kita tau-tau jadi saling jauh terus ngga pernah kontak lagi sama sekali apalagi terus kamu ganti fakultas! Tapi di tahun akhir aku kuliah sempet ketemu kamu di balairung dan kamu bisa-bisanya minum dari gelasku…I was beaming then, you still remember me…

Ya ampyun jauh-jauh kejawa buat berobat, kebayang kan sakitnya naik kendaraan bali-jawa mana lagi luka-luka getoh!

Duh…kalo udah gini, jadi bersyukur banget, kantor nanggung semua biaya pengobatan kita-kita.

You’re Element is Water. You are soft and serene at
most times but like Wind, you’re scary when
you’re mad. You probably have a talent is
singing and even your speaking voice is lovely.
You have an innocent type of beauty that makes
you look younger than you are and you like
close relationships with people.

What’s Your Element(girls)? (PICTURES)
brought to you by Quizilla

soft and serene? am I soft and serene?
scary when I am mad? mmmmmmm…unfortunately (or fortunately?) I have to nod nod..hehehe
lovely voice? not sure, loud yes, lovely?
look younger? I hope I do *grin*

Another Holy Day …GALUNGAN DAY!

Posted in: bla bla bla @ 5:27 pm
Tomorrow, August 11, 2004, Hindu Balinese will be celebrating Galungan Day, the Balinese day of Goodness. Galungan is a day to celebrate the victory of Goodness (virtue) over badness, or the worldly diversions. The Balinese celebrate this day by making sacrifices and offerings to the gods, in all sincerity. The Galungan day is based on the myth of the triumph of Indra God (symbol of Goodness) in the battle against King Mayadanawa (the symbol of Badness or evil spirits) who once governed Bali. The triumph of Goodness over Badness is celebrated in related Galungan rituals.

Have been living in Bali for almost 7,5 years by now, I have witnessed so many festivities and rituals. It is always so amazing to see all those beautiful offerings Balinese makes to offer to the gods. Today is the penampahan Galungan (literally can be translated into preparation day), everywhere you go you will see everyone is busy cooking, making penjor (those beautifully decorated bamboo poles), making offerings and others and tomorrow, they will go to the temple.

Being a Christian, I do not know much about the religion but it is certainly refreshing to the eyes to see those beautiful decorations, offerings, women in beautiful sarongs and kebayas and others during the festivities. This kind of wonderful festivities is I believe contribute so much to Bali being a most wanted place to visit! Come and visit Bali and see those beautiful festivities yourself!

HAPPY GALUNGAN DAY (for those of you celebrating)

Tomorrow, I will be enjoying all those tasty Balinese traditional food, yummyyyyyyyyyyyy!!

interesting english lesson on gender …

Posted in: Value @ 5:55 pm
here is an interesting English lesson :

An English professor wrote the words, “Woman without her man is
nothing,” on the blackboard and directed the students to punctuate
it correctly.

The men wrote: “Woman, without her man, is nothing.”

The women wrote: “Woman! Without her, man is nothing.”

which will you choose?

when your friend (or you) got promoted …

Posted in: bla bla bla @ 4:24 pm
Yesterday afternoon around 3.30, an sms from my dearest friend Bimo woke me up. He just got bored at his working place and played with his mobile phone making me his victim (rrrrgggghh when I finally could redeem my long postponed nap). Out of nowhere, we talked about his possibility to work in Bali like I do. He said he is thinking about it, but since he only started his current position as an F&B Manager in a hotel in Solo just couple of months a go, he would likely be able to move at least in 2 years time. He said that if he is working in Bali, I could be his Personal Assistant. I laughed at his dream. I said I would love to become his PA so then I can reject all his orders without making him mad at me as we are very close hahahaha…

The sms thread with him has made me thinking about someone in our level got promoted and suddenly become our superior. Not that I plan to be Bimo’s PA (No, thank you Bim! We will end up joking and not working all the time), but what does someone feel if his/her close friend gets promoted and become his/her superior? Envy? Jealous? Angry? I do not know. I have never experienced such case rather the other way around, I got promoted and become the superior among older team members. Luckily, I can work harmoniously with my team members (although took quite sometimes to achieve the harmony) My friend is not as lucky as me. He is a very hard working person, the youngest in the team but when the superior resigned he is the one who got promoted to succeed the former superior.

My, he faced so many problem as many of the team members feel that they have worked longer and know much better about the department than he does. The fact that in this beloved country of mine, age matters a lot has worsened the problem. My friend feels ackward to order his team members who are older that he is and the team members are reluctant to do the orders from someone who is younger than they do. Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa…. problem problem problem!

If he plays hard, his team members will think that he is mean and forget about the friendship they have (had?), but if he plays soft, his team members tend to be lazy and don’t work very well. I do not know if it is harder from men to take orders from younger man compared to the case with ladies to take orders from younger lady boss. I truly do not know. Well I guess many of us have to learn that seniority does not count as much as it does in the past. Those who work very hard and well, deserved to be promoted, not the ones who have served the longest. NO WAY. That way, above problems will never occur again. What do you think?
